New technology always feels intimidating at first, especially with the rapid rise of AI and its increasing presence in creative industries like fashion. There is a real concern that it could replace certain jobs or change traditional ways of working, which can make the shift feel uncertain. However, I also think technology can be used to our advantage if we are willing to adapt. In fashion, it can help us design faster, work more efficiently, and expand creative possibilities that weren’t possible before. If someone prefers traditional methods, those ways can still exist, but I find new technology fascinating because of how much it can enhance the design process rather than just replace it. For example, I was inspired by seeing how technology was used in the VCU fashion show, where students incorporated new digital tools to help design garments in innovative ways. Beyond fashion itself, technology also opens doors in areas like medical textiles, performance wear, and even space exploration, where clothing can serve highly functional and specialized purposes. Overall, while the rise of technology can feel overwhelming, I see it as an opportunity to push fashion into a more advanced, creative, and impactful future.
